KAZBEGI - DARIALI GORGE

Dariali Gorge this is an important part of the military Georgian road, during more than 200 years this road connected Georgia with the Capital of Russian Empire. Khevi – the historical name of the territory; is situated on the Southern cliff of the Caucasus range. Inhabitants of Khevi – Mokheve – for centuries they used to protect Southern borders of Georgia. That’s why the majority of ancient buildings have got defensive meaning. On the territory of Khevi the defensive buildings are also located as well as monuments of nature. The unforgettable view of the highest mount peak in the Europe – Elbrus is seen from the town Kazbegi. The local population used to prepare Khinkali by old recipe – this is a meal becoming a visit card of Georgian cuisine, with the origin from Khevi.
