Day 1

Drive from Kutaisi

Bagrati Cathedral - The cathedral was built in 1003 by Bagrat lll, with a tall drum and pointed dome resting on four free -standing pillars. In 1692 a Turkish explosion brought down drum, dome and ceiling to leave a cathedral in a ruined state. It was fully renovated between 2009 and 2012, with a mix of old and new stone and a few steel sections.

Gelati Monastery - Gelati was a cultural hub of Georgia's medieval "golden age”, and many Georgian rulers were buried here, including the great 12th-century king, David the Builder. The interior of the main Cathedral of the Virgin is among the brightest and most colourful in Georgia, with fascinating frescoes.

Day 2

Gogni Church - There's no door in the chapel because each time when people install them, as the legend says, the portrait of Saint George shows up and the door fell off. That's why the chapel was called "Karugdebeli"(the one that doesn't want door)

Nikortsminda Cathedral - Nikortsminda Cathedral is a Georgian Orthodox Church, located in Nikortsminda, Racha legion of Georgia. Nikortsminda was built in 1010-1014 during the raign Bagrat lll of Georgia. The Cathedral is on the Tentative List for status as a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.
